良い考えから良い行動へ2

聖書箇所：ピリピ人への手紙４：８－10
8 最後に、兄弟たち。すべての真実なこと、すべての誉れあること、すべての正しいこと、すべての清いこと、すべての愛すべきこと、すべての評判の良いこと、そのほか徳と言われること、称賛に値することがあるならば、そのようなことに心を留めなさい。
9 あなたがたが私から学び、受け、聞き、また見たことを実行しなさい。そうすれば、平和の神があなたがたとともにいてくださいます。
10 私のことを心配してくれるあなたがたの心が、このたびついによみがえって来たことを、私は主にあって非常に喜びました。あなたがたは心にかけてはいたのですが、機会がなかったのです。

復習：
　先週は、私たちの考えを聖書の考えに一致させるために聖書の教えを学びました。
　私たちが悪い考えを持つことは罪の力であり、悪い行動を起こすのは罪の性質のゆえです。パウロはこのように語っています。
ローマ人への手紙7：20 もし私が自分でしたくないことをしているのであれば、それを行っているのは、もはや私ではなくて、私のうちに住む罪です。
　クリスチャンになることは、聖霊によって生まれ変わることです。ですから、聖霊の働きを受けることで、悪から解放されていくのです。
ローマ人への手紙6：6 私たちの古い人がキリストとともに十字架につけられたのは、罪のからだが滅びて、私たちがもはやこれからは罪の奴隷でなくなるためであることを、私たちは知っています。
　次に、世の考え方や価値観は神を信じない人たちの考えと価値観ですから聖書から離れていきます。
2テモテ3：2 そのときに人々は、自分を愛する者、金を愛する者、大言壮語する者、不遜な者、神をけがす者、両親に従わない者、感謝することを知らない者、汚れた者になり、3 情け知らずの者、和解しない者、そしる者、節制のない者、粗暴な者、善を好まない者になり、4 裏切る者、向こう見ずな者、慢心する者、神よりも快楽を愛する者になり、
ですから、内側の慣れ親しんでいる罪の性質、この世からの誘惑を避け、聖書の示す道を進むのです。そのためには、考えを変え、それを習慣にし、行動が自然に出てくるようにするのです。
　8節を復習しましょう。
8 最後に、兄弟たち。すべての真実なこと、すべての誉れあること、すべての正しいこと、すべての清いこと、すべての愛すべきこと、すべての評判の良いこと、そのほか徳と言われること、称賛に値することがあるならば、そのようなことに心を留めなさい。
　真実とは、「真実である」「誠実な」「偽りがない」「本物の」という意味で、「信頼」がキーワードでした。物事を正しく判断し、不正や偏見のない態度をとり、噂話や憶測ではなく、事実を求める姿勢です。
誉れあることとは、「尊厳のある」「高貴な」「気高い」 という意味です。キーワードは、「品格」、「道徳的な高さ」です。これは教会の年配者やリーダーに求められている資質です。

正しいこととは、人間的な「正義」よりは「神の基準に適ったもの」 という意味です。神の基準である聖書的に正しいことです。道徳的に正しい決断をすることです。いじめや不当な扱いを見過ごさないことです。

清いこと：とは 「聖」です。これは神に区別されたもの（聖別されたもの）です。これは心の態度や思いの中のことです。不純な思いを取り除き、神の御前で純粋な心を持つことを求める。

愛すべきこと：この言葉は心が温かいことです。例えば、親切、誠実、礼儀正しさ、寛容、優しさなどです。批判的な言葉ではなく、人を励まし、慰め、祝福する言葉を選ぶことです。無関心にならず、思いやりを持ち、人に対して親切で優しくあること。

すべての評判の良いこと：「立派な行為として認められる」ということです。しかし、動機が、人からの評価のために良いことではなく、神の栄光を現すことが目的であるべきです。

そのほか徳と言われること：「優れた人格」「道徳的な卓越性」 という意味です。英語の 「virtue」 も同様に、高潔な人格、道徳的に優れた資質 を指します。「徳（aretē）」は、神に似た性質を持つことです。徳を持つことは、神の性質に近づくことであり、キリストに似た者となることです。正直で誠実な人格であり、忍耐と寛容を持ち、感情をコントロールし、困難な状況でも希望を持ち続けます。家庭や職場で思いやりを持って接する人です。また、物事を深く考え、いつも神と人から知恵を求めます。
賞賛に値すること：神の前に正しい行動ですから、必ずしも人々の称賛を受けません。愛する、仕えるなどです。また、困難な状況でも神を信頼し、信仰に基づいて判断します。

　大事なことは思考を変えるように努力することです。特に、ビジネスや効率主義はクリスチャンの生き方とは根本的に違います。
　主は大事な命令は、「あなたの隣人をあなた自身のように愛せよ。」です。これを実践するためには、仕える、与えるという姿勢でないと無理なのです。
　聖書では、クリスチャンは「世の光になりなさいと」命じられています。光とは暗闇を照らすものです。また、光とは間違った道を教え、正しい道を照らすのです。　私たちの行動が福音に結びついていることを覚えましょう。人々は真理を求めているのです。　
　今日は、後半です。どのように良い思考を維持し、実践するかです。

I. 良い思考を維持する
　8節の後半です。
8 最後に、兄弟たち。すべての真実なこと、すべての誉れあること、すべての正しいこと、すべての清いこと、すべての愛すべきこと、すべての評判の良いこと、そのほか徳と言われること、称賛に値することがあるならば、そのようなことに心を留めなさい。
「心に留めなさい」とは、いつもそのような事を考えていなさいという事です。
「心に留めなさい」はギリシャ語 「ギノスコー（γινώσκω）」 です。この言葉は、単に「知る」「理解する」という意味を超えて、「深く知り、経験し、それを実生活に適用する」 という意味を持っています。単なる知識ではなく、経験を通じた実践的な知識です。聖書では、神との関係において「個人的に知る」「深い交わりを持つ」ことを表す言葉 として使われます。ここでは、現在形が使われており、これは 「継続的に、絶えず考え続けていること」 を示しています。この言葉は、経験的な理解でもあります。たとえば、神を知ることは、単なる情報ではなく、神との関係に根ざした経験的な理解のことです。
　つまり、日々意識的に8節前半の「真実なこと」「愛すべきこと」「清いこと」「評判の良いこと」「徳と言われること」、「称賛に値すること」などに思いを向け続ける必要があるのです。そのためには、いつも何が良いことかを意識しながら生活することです。ポジティブな思考を養い、ネガティブな思考を排除するのです。
　まずは、み言葉をいつも読んでいることです。頭の中をみ言葉を満たすのです。放っておくと、「霊的な雑草（罪やネガティブな思考）」が生えてきます。
詩篇119：11 あなたに罪を犯さないため、私は、あなたのことばを心にたくわえました。

　そして、祈り続けることです。祈るならば聖霊が助けてくださいます。
ジョージ・ミュラーは19世紀のイギリスで孤児院を運営した人物です。彼は困難の中でも、神が必ず必要を満たしてくださると信じ続けました。ある日、彼の孤児院には食料が全くなくなりました。しかし彼は、子どもたちを集めて祈り始めました。「神様、あなたが私たちに食べ物を与えてくださると信じます。」
すると、その直後にパン屋の男が扉を叩き、「昨夜、神が夢の中で『ミュラーの孤児院にパンを届けなさい』と語られたので持ってきました」と言いました。その後、牛乳屋がやってきて「牛乳を運んでいた荷車が壊れたので、よかったら使ってください」と言いました。この出来事は、ミュラーの信仰をさらに確信させ、彼の活動は数千人の孤児たちを救うものとなりました。
　
II. 良い考えを実践に移す
9 あなたがたが私から学び、受け、聞き、また見たことを実行しなさい。そうすれば、平和の神があなたがたとともにいてくださいます。
パウロは「あなたがたが私から学び、受け、聞き、見たことを実行しなさい」と言っています。知識や考えだけではなく、それを行動に移すことが重要です。パウロは実際にこの時までに２回はピリピに行っています。行った時には一緒に生活をしていますから、彼らはパウロの教えだけではなく、日常生活を見たのです。彼は生活を見せたのです。そして、それを真似なさいといっているのです。

信仰とは行動を含みます。

ヤコブ2:17 それと同じように、信仰も、もし行いがなかったなら、それだけでは、死んだものです。

実際に愛をもって行動し、仕えることが大切です。例えば、困っている人を助ける、励ましの言葉をかける、小さな親切を積み重ねることができます。

マザー・テレサは、貧しい人々に仕えることを使命とし、一生をかけて行動しました。彼女は「愛は言葉ではなく、行動によって示されるべきだ」と語り、インドのコルカタで孤児や病人を助ける活動を始めました。彼女は世界中に愛と奉仕の精神を広めました。

後半には、「そうすれば、平和の神があなたがたとともにいてくださいます。」とあります。
　先週お話ししたように、私たちはそのように造られ、そのように生きる時に平安があるのです。神はそのようなお方ですから、正しいことをすると神が共におられる平安があるのです。神の平和が私たちの心を満たし、日々の歩みの中で良い行動へとつながるのです。

　信仰生活は実践です。信仰の実践が今年のテーマです。しかし、実践の前に考え方の方向を変えなければなりません。聖書と離れたこの世の流れの中でどんなに考えても、自分の利益や効率の中で考えてしまうのです。聖書は、正しい考えと正しい方向を示しています。それは、自分に来る方向ではなく、自分から出ていく方向です。

　そして、自分だけではなく、教会がそのようになることが必要です。
10 私のことを心配してくれるあなたがたの心が、このたびついによみがえって来たことを、私は主にあって非常に喜びました。あなたがたは心にかけてはいたのですが、機会がなかったのです。
　主にある喜びとは、主のみ心がなる喜びです。それは自分を通してなされることも大事ですが、教会を通してなされる事がもっと大事です。パウロは自分だけでなく、みんなが霊的に向上することを喜んだのです。
　ですから、みんなが良い考えをもち、良い行動ができるようにとりなしましょう。

III. 人生の目的と目標設定
　最後に適用です。今回は人生の目的から目標設定です。最初に、私たちの人生の目的です。
イザヤ43:7 わたしの名で呼ばれるすべての者は、わたしの栄光のために、わたしがこれを創造し、これを形造り、これを造った。
　神は私たちをご自身の栄光のために造られたのでです。目的がわかれば、どう生きれば良いのか、何をすれば良いのかがわかります。なぜ、悪いことをしないのか？　それは、神の栄光が現れないからです。なぜ、良いことをするのか、それは神の栄光が現れるからです。残念ながら、多くの人は人生の目的を自分のため、としています。すると、悪いことでも仕方なくしてしまいます。また、愛することも自分の利益にならないと続けることができません。目的が設定されると目標が決まります。目標には長期目標と短期目標があります。長期目標は、人生の方向性です。神に栄光をという人生の目的を具体的にキリストに似た者になるという目標にしてみます。
　キリストの人生は、神を愛すること、隣人愛に生きることと言い換えれます。また、神を愛することは霊的な交わり、神の喜ばれることをすること、そして、隣人愛は伝道、奉仕に分けることができます。すると、それらを具体的にしていくことができます。それが短期目標です。また、5年後10年後に自分はどうなっていたいか、という目標設定も良いです。そのようになるためには、日常生活で何をすれば良いかが見えてきます。

祈りましょう。
父なる神様。まず、私たちの頭と心を正しいこと、良い事で満たしてください。そのために聖書をいつも読むことができるように助けてください。そして、その思いを実行できるように導いてください。いつも考えていることが出てきます。良い考えを持ち続ける事ができますように。また、私たちの人生の目的地が違うことを悟ることができますように。私たちは神の栄光を表すように創造されました。ですから、そのように生きるのです。それが自然なのです。良い木は良い実を結びます。私たちの日常に良い実があふれるように祝福してください。

Scripture Passage: Philippians 4:8-10 (ESV)
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. 10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity.

Review:
Last week, we studied the teachings of the Bible to align our thoughts with the thoughts of Scripture.
Having bad thoughts is due to the power of sin, and acting wrongly is due to the sinful nature. Paul explains this as follows:

Romans 7:20 (ESV) Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.

Becoming a Christian means being born again through the Holy Spirit. By receiving the work of the Holy Spirit, we are freed from evil.

Romans 6:6 (ESV) We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.

Next, worldly thoughts and values drift away from Scripture because they are shaped by those who do not believe in God.

2 Timothy 3:2-4 (ESV) For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.

Therefore, avoid the familiar sinful nature within and the temptations of this world, and walk in the path shown by the Bible. To do so, change your thinking, make it a habit, and let your actions flow naturally.

Let us review verse 8 again:
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

True: This means "genuine," "sincere," "without falsehood," and "authentic." The keyword is "trust." It refers to making correct judgments, being free from injustice and prejudice, and seeking facts rather than gossip or speculation.

Honorable: This means "dignified," "noble," and "lofty." The keywords are "character" and "moral excellence." This is a quality required of elders and leaders in the church.

Just: Rather than human "justice," this refers to what is "aligned with God's standards." It means making morally right decisions and not overlooking bullying or injustice.

Pure: This refers to "holiness"—being set apart for God. It concerns the attitude of the heart and mind, removing impure thoughts, and maintaining a pure heart before God.

Lovely: This word implies warmth of heart, such as kindness, sincerity, politeness, patience, and gentleness. Instead of using critical words, we should choose words that encourage, comfort, and bless. It also means not being indifferent but showing care and kindness to others.

Commendable: This refers to actions recognized as admirable. However, the motive should not be to gain approval from people but to glorify God.

Excellence: This means "superior character" or "moral excellence." The English word "virtue" similarly refers to noble character and moral superiority. The Greek word "aretē" means having God's qualities. Possessing virtue means becoming like Christ—being honest, sincere, patient, and kind, controlling emotions, maintaining hope in difficult situations, and showing compassion at home and in the workplace. A virtuous person also deeply reflects on matters and always seeks wisdom from God and others.

Worthy of Praise: This refers to actions that are righteous before God, even if they do not receive human praise. Examples include loving and serving others. Even in difficult situations, we trust God and make decisions based on faith.
The important thing is to strive to change our way of thinking. Especially in business and efficiency-driven systems, the Christian way of life is fundamentally different.

The Lord's greatest commandment is, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." To practice this, we must have a mindset of serving and giving.

The Bible commands Christians to "be the light of the world." Light shines in darkness, exposing the wrong path and illuminating the right one.
Let us remember that our actions are connected to the gospel. People are seeking the truth. Today, we will focus on the second half: how to maintain good thoughts and put them into practice.

I. Maintaining Good Thoughts
Let us read the latter half of verse 8 once again:
8b think about these things.

To "think about these things" means to constantly keep them in mind.
The phrase "think about" in Greek is "ginōskō" (γινώσκω). This word goes beyond simply "knowing" or "understanding." It means "to deeply know, to experience, and to apply in real life." Scripture often expresses a personal knowledge of and deep fellowship with God. Here, the present tense is used, indicating an ongoing, continuous action—meaning we must constantly, without ceasing, think about. This word also implies experiential knowledge; knowing God is not merely intellectual but is rooted in a relational experience.

Therefore, we must consciously direct our thoughts daily toward what is true, lovely, pure, commendable, excellent, and praiseworthy. This requires intentionally focusing on what is good, cultivating positive thoughts, and eliminating negative ones.

First, always read the Word. Fill your mind with it. If you leave it unattended, "spiritual weeds" (sin and negative thoughts) will start to grow.　

Psalm 119:11 (ESV) I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

And keep praying. When you pray, the Holy Spirit will help you.

A remarkable example of faith in action is George Müller, a 19th-century man who operated orphanages in England. Even in hardships, he steadfastly believed that God would provide for every need. One day, his orphanage ran out of food entirely. Yet, he gathered the children and began to pray: "Lord, we believe that You will provide food for us.”

Moments later, a baker knocked on the door and said, "Last night, God told me in a dream to bring bread to Müller’s orphanage, so I came." Soon after, a milkman arrived, saying, "My cart broke down, and I have fresh milk that will spoil if unused. Please take it."
This experience strengthened Müller’s faith, and his work eventually helped thousands of orphans. His life teaches us the power of faith and the importance of trusting God daily.

II. Putting Good Thoughts into Action
Philippians 4:9 (ESV) What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Paul instructs the believers not only to learn and receive but also to put these teachings into practice. Knowledge and thoughts alone are not enough; action is essential. Paul had visited Philippi twice, living among the believers, allowing them to witness his daily life. He demonstrated his teachings through his actions and urged them to imitate him.
Faith involves action.

James 2:17 (ESV) So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
It is important to act with love and serve others—helping those in need, offering words of encouragement, and practicing small acts of kindness.

Mother Teresa dedicated her life to serving the poor. She once said, "Love is not just words, it must be seen in action."She began her ministry in Kolkata, India, caring for orphans and the sick, spreading a spirit of love and service worldwide.

The latter part of verse 9 states, "And the God of peace will be with you."
As mentioned last week, we are created to live this way, and when we do, we experience peace. Since God is a God of righteousness, when we act righteously, His peace abides with us, filling our hearts and guiding us toward good actions in our daily lives.

The Christian life is one of practice. This year’s theme is the practice of faith. However, before we can act, we must first change our way of thinking. If we only think in the context of personal gain and efficiency, we will be influenced by worldly perspectives. The Bible provides the correct way of thinking and direction—one that focuses not on receiving but on giving.

Furthermore, it is necessary for the entire church to adopt this mindset, not just individuals.

"I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity." (Philippians 4:10, ESV)

Joy in the Lord is the joy of seeing His will be done. While it is important that His will is accomplished through us individually, it is even more important that it is fulfilled through the church. Paul did not rejoice only for himself but for everyone’s spiritual growth. Therefore, let us intercede so that everyone may have good thoughts and take good actions.

Our existence should be a light to the world, bringing blessings to others. This week, what can you do to be a blessing to someone?

II. Life Purpose and Goal Setting
Finally, let’s apply what we have learned. This section focuses on life purpose and goal setting.

Isaiah 43:7 (ESV) Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.

God created us for His glory. Once we understand this purpose, we can discern how we should live and what we should do. Why do we avoid doing wrong? Because it does not bring glory to God. Why do we do good? Because it reveals God's glory. Unfortunately, many people see the purpose of life as being for themselves. As a result, they end up doing wrong things out of necessity. Moreover, they cannot continue to love if it does not benefit them.

When we establish our purpose, our goals become clear. Goals can be divided into long-term and short-term objectives. Long-term goals provide direction in life. If our purpose is to glorify God, a concrete goal could be to become more Christ-like.

Christ’s life can be summarized as loving God and loving others. Loving God includes spiritual fellowship and doing what pleases Him, while loving others involves evangelism and service. These areas can be broken down into specific actions, forming our short-term goals. Additionally, setting goals for five or ten years ahead can help us determine what daily actions are necessary to reach them.

Let’s　pray.
Heavenly Father,
First, please fill our minds and hearts with what is right and good. Help us to read the Bible continually so that we may be filled with Your truth. Guide us to put these thoughts into action, for what we constantly think about will eventually come out. Help us to keep our minds focused on good things.

Also, help us to realize that our destination in life is different from what we often assume. We were created to glorify You. Therefore, we are to live that way—it is the natural way. A good tree bears good fruit. Please bless us so that good fruit may overflow in our daily lives.
